Fiber Fest is a dramatic shawl knit in three colors. While knitting this top down, half-circle shawl, you will learn short row wedges, two-color brioche ribbing, tiny bobbles, and a brioche border with increases and decreases.
As an added twist the designer, Stephen West, uses an i-cord tab cast on and an i-cord edge as you knit. It will change the way you border your shawls! What a terrific opportunity to test out these different techniques in small doses.
From the designer: This top-down shawl works well with all kinds of color styles and contrast effects. Combine three colors of fingering weight yarn together and enjoy the rhythmic short rows and bands of two-color brioche. There are also tiny little bobbles decorating the short row rays. Subtle color combos will create a smooth shadowy effect while bold contrasting colors will produce a dynamic color pop style accentuating the architecture of this geometric pattern. The resulting shape is quite long and not too deep, the perfect size for showcasing your precious yarn collectibles.
Class meets Tuesday evenings: May 7, May 21, and June 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Intermediate Skill Level: must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, work a variety of stitch patterns with combinations of knits and purls, basic brioche skills are recommended*, simple color changes, more complicated increases/decreases, and finishing.
